Right now we are offering peer support services to benefit families by way of community activities and recreation. Once per month, we will organize a day of activities for the age-appropriate cohorts. The goal of this portion of our program is to encourage proper coping mechanisms and life skills, while maintaining peer support. Children will receive up to 12 sessions of individual therapy and peer support on a weekly basis (once we have the funding to open a facility). To further solidify the children's new friendships, we would like to organize camping trips twice yearly during Spring and Summer school breaks. Our goal is to show children that they are not alone in the grieving process, that we care for our own.
For parents and caregivers, The Jeremi Kehnt Foundation will provide tools to help the entire family cope with loss. We understand that it is hard to be a parent or caregiver coping with the loss of a loved one, in addition to caring for children who are also grieving. Our goal is to provide up-to-date resources will be available so that parents and caregivers are able to balance this new life that surrounds loss. Current research on grieving shall be updated frequently in order to provide additional coping mechanisms and tools for parents, caregivers, and children.
